For the last 11 years I have rolled up my sleeves and demonstrated my commitment to Poway Unified students being their best through my volunteer activities in service of five different PUSD schools and the district office. My work with PUSD principals, teachers, parents, and district administrators has provided me with an understanding of how our schools work from the ground up. And those very knowledgeable members of the PUSD learning community have helped inform my broad understanding of the many issues currently facing our district.
I was educated in Southern California public schools, and received my bachelor’s degree from UC Irvine in Social Science, with a minor in Political Science. After college, I detoured through the East Coast and national politics en route to settling in San Diego. My professional experiences include extensive work in marketing, research, and public affairs in Washington, D.C., New York City, and San Diego.
Whether drawing actionable insight from research data for clients or working with other incredibly dedicated Poway Unified parents to support our students, I have worked collaboratively to bring vision and leadership to answer challenging questions and accomplish difficult goals.
My husband, Craig, and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary this year. We are parents to teen-aged boys attending Design39Campus and Del Norte High School. Together, we value integrity, community service, and the power of family dinners. We belong to the Del Norte Chapter of Boys Team Charity in order to foster community-service values in our sons. And Craig is a member of the San Diego County Sheriff Department’s Volunteer Search & Rescue team, contributing countless hours in service of San Diego County residents’ safety.
